Helping Hooves, Helping Hearts

When you donate to Helping Hooves, you are changing two lives at once. A horse that was once overlooked, uncertain, or in need of a second chance, and a person who may be searching for confidence, connection, or a way forward.

Many of these horses arrive needing time, patience, and consistent care before they are ready to stand beside someone in an equine assisted learning session. They learn to trust again. They learn to feel safe. And in that process, they become powerful partners for people working through challenges of their own.

Through the horse sponsorship program, donors make that transformation possible. It costs about $25 per day to care for one horse. That daily care provides feed, hay, farrier services, veterinary support, and a safe place to land. More than that, it creates a horse that is calm, responsive, and able to meet someone exactly where they are, without judgment.

A sponsored horse does more than exist. That horse helps a child find their voice. Helps a teen feel accepted. Helps a parent slow down and reconnect. Helps someone take a deep breath and realize they are okay.

Donations toward lessons directly fund scholarships and sliding scale opportunities. With sessions averaging around $95, many families would not be able to participate without support. These scholarships open the gate for someone who needs it most. A child learning emotional regulation. A family working to communicate again. A veteran looking for peace. In a rural community like Beaverhead County, access like this can change the trajectory of a life.

Every contribution helps keep the gates open, the horses cared for, and the programs running. It supports the quiet moments, the breakthroughs, and the small wins that turn into something much bigger over time.

This is more than a donation. It is a second chance for a horse. It is a turning point for a person. It is the moment someone realizes they are stronger than they thought, and they do not have to figure it out alone.
